About Insolight

Achievements:

Those last two years were key to build the product and scale the team accordingly. The Seed Round of CHF 2.3 Mio closed in January 2018 was instrumental to cover those efforts. The development efforts brought the product from a lab prototype to full size solar panels, whose performances have been extensively demonstrated on outdoor tests and pilot installations. Industrialisation work on the architecture and assembly methods has been engaged. The business plan has been further refined, based on customers and suppliers feedbacks and alternative revenue streams in a secondary market have been explored.

The ESA BIC Switzerland team was always very supportive and responsive during the full project length. They were proposing many interesting opportunities such as joining fairs, business meetings, workshops or providing marketing support.
We have received very useful support from ESA on all our technical requests regarding the supply and assembly of space-grade solar cells.
Thanks to the Incubator, we got to meet many other startups in deep Tech, facing similar challenges. Sharing our experiences led to fruitful discussions and useful advices.

Next steps:

We must now further optimise the costs and demonstrate at pilot-line level the assembly of our high efficiency modules, while commercial pilot sites and qualification tests will further validate the performance and reliability. The goal is to show how the technology can be industrialized for mass production, enabling its integration by manufacturers into their existing production lines and diluting most of the risks associated to a disruptive product. We are starting the discussions with industrial manufacturers; selling the blueprint solution will require several steps and time. In parallel, we will seek in 2019 for additional funding, through grants, revenues (secondary market) and a Serie A financing round.
